Students will learn CNC lathe manual programming using standard Fanuc control as well as CNC lathe setup and operation. The focus will be on hands-on practice and participants will have an opportunity to manufacture components which they may keep. Participants will write advanced programs for complex lathe parts involving the use of live tools and 3rd axis on one of the most modern full size multi-axis CNC lathe. These advanced programs combine turning and milling which allows creation of complex parts such as squares, hexagons, special contours. Machine set-up and tool offsets will also be covered.

Topics:

  • Lathe safety

  • Machining methodology

  • Tool, part setup and operation
  • Programming with Fanuc 21T control
  • CNC codes and various canned cycles
  • Cutting speed, feed, and depth of cut
  • Thread cutting and subroutines
  • Machine set-up, live tools set-up
  • Programming in X, Z and C coordinates
  • Proving program by actual machining
