General Machinist is a tradesperson who is responsible for accurately grind and machine various parts from metal within close tolerances using various machine tools including lathes, milling machines, drill presses and grinders.

 

This is an overview course designed to prepare students prior to enrolling in General Machinist Apprenticeship Program.

 

These courses is also intended to individuals who are trying to find themselves a career, but are not sure if they would want to engage in three to four years apprenticeship to become a General Machinist.

  • Reading blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
  • Planning work
  • Trade mathematics
  • Acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills associated with various machine tools
  • Use bench hand tools and precision measuring instruments
  • Operate engine lathe, milling machine, drill presses, horizontal band saw and file

Part 1 (theory) 3 Weekends; Saturdays & Sundays   (30 hours)

Part 2 (practice) 3 Weekends; Saturdays & Sundays (30 hours)
